SCOTT ALMANManaging Director • Consilium
Scott is the Managing Director of Consilium and has been a leader in the Australasian financial services sector for more than 30 years. As founder of Consilium, Scott has led the business to exceptional growth, staying true to its founding principles to champion professional financial
advice and those who deliver it.Scott was the founder and senior partner of leading Australian firm Alman Partners, and still serves as executive chairman. He has enjoyed long term associations with leading financial economists such as Professors Eugene Fama (Booth School of Business, University of Chicago, 2013 Nobel Laureate) and Kenneth French (Tuck School of Finance, Dartmouth College).
Scott is a founding member of the Global Association of Independent Advisors, a Fellow of the Financial Planning Association of Australia and belongs to the Institute of Directors of New
Zealand. He holds the Certified Financial Planner® certification and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation and has a Diploma of Financial Planning from RMIT University.
ANDREW BASCANDCo-CEO, Chief Investment Officer • Harbour Asset Management
Andrew is a founder, Co-CEO and CIO of Harbour. He holds responsibility for our Australasian equity growth portfolios and works closely with the investment teams on market strategy. As Co-CEO and CIO, Andrew focuses on the overarching management the business, helping the Harbour team work towards a core vision of being the
most trusted investment manager.Prior to founding Harbour Asset Management, Andrew spent 10 years with AllianceBernstein New Zealand as Senior Vice President
and Portfolio Manager responsible for portfolio construction of all Australasian equity mandates. In that role Andrew and his team were consistently recognised by the industry for excellence in funds management. Andrew has over 40 years’ investment
management experience including roles with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, the Bank of England, AMP and with Merrill Lynch Global Asset Management (UK) as Managing Director of Global Equity Products. With Merrill Lynch, Andrew managed global equity accounts for pension funds in Japan, Sweden, Spain, Chile, England, the US, Germany and South Africa.
LOUISA YANDLEGeneral Manager – Product and Operations • Consilium
As the General Manager of Product and Operations, Louisa is responsible for Consilium’s product, investment research, investment operations and technology functions. Her primary focus is on the delivery of Consilium’s products and services, maximising efficiencies through quality operational systems and processes.
Prior to joining Consilium in 2019, Louisa worked in senior finance roles at Macquarie Bank and ANZ Bank in Sydney for over 16 years. In these roles, she was responsible for developing equity based financial products for high net worth individuals, corporates and institutions.
Louisa holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science with majors in finance, management science, and psychology, from the University of Canterbury.
PROFESSOR BEN MARSHALLIndependent Academic Consultant
Professor Ben Marshall works with the Consilium Investment Committee as an Independent Academic Consultant, with a particular focus on governance, analytical support and policy review. He serves on the editorial board of a number of journals and has consulted to public and private companies in a range of different areas. He holds the MSA Charitable Trust Chair in Finance at Massey University.
Professor Marshall has undertaken research in areas such as the impact of climate on financial markets, factors that influence stock returns, quantitative approaches to portfolio management, transaction cost and illiquidity measurement, and exchange traded funds.
His research has been published in leading international journals and he is a regular speaker at international finance conferences. Professor Marshall is currently ranked in the top 1% of authors based on downloads of his working papers.

SLAVA PLATKOVSenior Portfolio Manager, Vice President • Dimensional Fund Advisors
Slava Platkov joined Dimensional in 2012 where he oversees a team managing systematic factor portfolios investing in listed equities, bonds, property and infrastructure across both developed and emerging markets. His other responsibilities include assisting professional investors with structuring multi-asset portfolios and understanding their investment outcomes. Prior to Dimensional, Slava held portfolio management positions at a large Australian superannuation fund and a global investment consulting firm. His responsibilities there included asset allocation and manager research.
Since 2018, Slava has been working as an adjunct lecturer at Macquarie University teaching numerous finance subjects for students pursuing masters of applied finance and masters of business administration qualifications.
Slava holds a master’s degree in Applied Finance from Macquarie University. He also has a Bachelor of Commerce from University of New South Wales, majoring in finance and actuarial studies.
EMMANUEL MACRIDESHead of Enterprise Group, Vice President • Dimensional Fund Advisors
Emmanuel brings two decades of experience in financial services to his current role as Vice President and Head of Enterprise Group, Australia.
Emmanuel is passionate about ensuring people’s lifestyle goals are achieved while implementing quality financial planning strategies. His passion for ensuring the retail consumer receives quality financial planning advice stems from his early experience working within a boutique wealth advice firm as an associate advisor.
In his role at Dimensional, Emmanuel helps professionals conceptualise investment ideas and bring them to life for their clients. Delivering an enlightening investment experience is only one skill; he also provides the sort of thought leadership that helps his clients take their business to the next level and beyond. Emmanuel holds a Bachelor of Business, majoring in financial planning, from RMIT University.
MITCHELL BRISTOWHead of Investment Services • Consilium
Working in the financial services industry for over 15 years, Mitchell manages a team of six overseeing Consilium’s investment strategies across partner services, Synergy and KiwiWRAP. He is responsible for driving innovation in pursuit of outstanding client outcomes and enhancing Consilium’s existing strong relationships with our valued
investment clients. Mitchell is an integral part of the Consilium investment committee, with responsibilities in the areas of investment analysis, performance monitoring, supplementary fund due diligence, asset allocation and research.Mitchell is as a CFA® Charterholder and is bound by the CFA Institute’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct. Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Science (Statistics) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Management Science) from the University of Canterbury.
BEN BRINKERHOFFHead of Advice • Consilium
Ben is Head of Advice and has been with Consilium since the foundation of the business. Ben works with partner firms to grow and develop their ideal advice practice through engaging advice processes, efficient business systems, increased investor education and
goals-based advice, while finding their marketing and business development niche. He is a frequent author writing many articles and whitepapers for Consilium. He regularly speaks at industry events, conferences and at client engagements.Ben has over 20 years’ experience in financial services including General Manager of Bradley Nuttall, Chief Operations Officer of Index Funds Advisers, LLC in the United States and in various Economic Consulting roles in the US and abroad. He has a BA in History and
Economics from the University of California. -

Flying in
The Novotel is near the international terminal, follow the signs to the hotel. A free public shuttle is also available from the domestic to the international terminal.
